16–17 cm

  • Dark olive-green upper parts
  • Long yellowish supercilium
  • Chestnut tail


South America: found in Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil


Sometimes placed in the genus Philydor.


There are 2 subspecies[1]:

  • A. r. ruficaudata:
  • A. r. flavipecta:


Tropical lowland evergreen forests and seasonally flooded forests.



Their diet consists of a variety of insects, including spiders.
