Extinct.
Slate blue head and rump, slate gray back, wine red breast, scarlet eye, short slender black bill, blue wings, white and grey 9 inch tail.

It made its home in the billion or so acres of primary forest that once covered North America east of the Rocky Mountains.
Behaviour
They lived in enormous flocks.
Diet included acorns, beechnuts, chestnuts, various fruits, grains and insects.
