Male

  • Black head with purplish or greenish sheen
  • Brownish black body with green gloss
  • Yellow eye
  • During breeding, small white band on the forehead above the beak

Female

  • Brown eye
  • Brownish body

Freshwater lakes including hydro lakes and costal dune lakes.
