Male brownish upperside, greyish underside, shoulder black with white spots. Female similar upperside, streaked black and paler underside. The white dots on the shoulder may come together as two white wing bars.

Southeastern Brazil (São Paulo) and southern Brazil (Paraná and extreme northeastern Santa Catarina). Endangered.

Taxonomy

Two subspecies recognized:

• F. a. acutirostris in southern Brazil (Paraná and extreme northeastern Santa Catarina)
• F. a. paludicola in southeastern Brazil (São Paulo)

These two were originally expected to become two species at least by some.

Habitat

Marshland, riverine and mangrove swamps.

Behaviour

Diet

Eats insects and other arthropods.
