Electron carinatum

Identification

30–38 cm. Rufous forehead, black mask, light turquoise streak above mask. Upperparts green, underparts greenish with light turquoise chin and black spot on chest.

Distribution

Mexico to northern Costa Rica.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species described by Bernard Du Bus de Gisignies, 1847, Guatemala. .

Habitat

Tropical lowland and some montane rainforest.

Behaviour

They excavate a nest in river banks.
