Imperial Pheasant is now know to be a hybrid between:
- Silver Pheasant - Lophura nycthemera and
- Edwards's Pheasant - Lophura edwardsi
One bird might also have been a hybrid between Silver Pheasant and Vietnamese Pheasant.
