- Brown upperparts with white markings
- Pale underside with brown barring
- White throat and eye-brows
- Eyes yellow with orange or brownish tinge
Juveniles more uniform dark brown
Distribution
Guadalcanal (southern Solomon Islands)
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
One of four species formerly viewed as a single species, Solomons Boobook.
Habitat
Forests, edge and sometimes in patches with just a few tall trees, in lowlands and foothills up to 1500 m asl.
Behaviour
Presumably mostly nocturnal but poorly known.
Vocalisation
Pairs duet in series of monotone notes.
