9·5–11 cm (7·5–8·3 cm New Guinea races)

  • Greyish head
  • No tail spots


Asia and Australasia
Southeast Asia: found in Indonesia, Moluccas, Papua New Guinea
Australia: Northern Territory, Western Australia, Melanesia



There are 4 subspecies[1]:

  • G. c. cinereiceps:
  • G. c. aruensis:
  • Aru, Waigeo, Salawati and Batanta islands
  • G. c. chloronota:
  • G. c. darwini:


Riparian forests, mangroves and thickets.



Their diet includes a variety of insects, spiders, beetles, wasps etc.
