Identification
26–28 cm
- Greyish-brown upperparts
- Darker wings
Distribution
South America: found in coastal and mountain areas in southern Argentina and Chile.
Taxonomy
The scientific name has changed from livida to lividus.
Subspecies
There are 2 subspecies[1]:
- A. l. lividus:
- Coast and mountains of Chile (Atacama to Valdivia)
- A. l. fortis:
- Southern Chile (Aysén) and southern Argentina to Tierra del Fuego
Habitat
Dry rocky and forest scrub and sclerophyllous vegetation.
Behaviour
Diet
They have a wide and varied diet, consisting of insects, eggs and nestlings, lizards, frogs and small mammals.
