Distribution
South America: found from Southeast Peru to southern Argentina and Chile.
Taxonomy
The scientific name has been changed from microptera to micropterus.
Subspecies
There are two subspecies[1]:
- A. m. andecola
- A. m. micropterus:
Habitat
Puna grassland and open shrubby slopes.
Behaviour
Diet
A wide variety of prey is eaten, from eggs and nestlings, large insects, frogs, lizards and small mammals.
