Formerly placed in the genus Lichenostomus.

Subspecies

There are 2 subspecies^[1]:

• P. f. subgermana:

• East-central Queensland (Atherton Tablelands to about Sarina)

• P. f. fusca:

• Eastern Australia (Rockhampton, Queensland to south-western Victoria)

Habitat

Forests and bushland, open woodlands and gardens.
