Malta

Overview

Landing on Filfla is allowed only by permit from the Environment Ministry in Valletta but the islet, 8km off the south coast of Malta, can be viewed from a boat. This rocky islet, only 6ha in extent, has steep cliffs and boulder-strewn slopes but little vegetation.

Notable Species

One of the Mediterranean's largest colonies of European Storm-petrel can be found here as well as Cory's Shearwater, possibly Yelkouan Shearwater, and Yellow-legged Gull.
