Distribution

Central America: found only in Mexico.

Taxonomy

Subspecies

There are 2 subspecies

  • N. m. mcleodii:
  • Western Mexico (Chihuahua and southern Sonora to Jalisco and Colima)
  • N. m. rayi:
  • Oak-pine woodlands of west-central Mexico (Guerrero)

Habitat

Dry forest, damp cloud forest, rocky slopes, wooded gullies, and overgrown fields.

Behaviour

Terrestrial.
