Distribution
Central America: occurs only in the mountains of central Mexico (Michoacan to Oaxaca).
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
It was formerly included in genus Cynanthus.
Habitat
Lowland moist forests and high-altitude shrubland.
