Identification

14·5–17 cm (5¾-6¾ in)

  • Dark grey upperparts
  • Rusty underparts
  • White lower belly to the base of tail
  • Long broad supercilium

Distribution

South America: found in Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina.

  • Andes of Peru (north to La Libertad and western Hu nuco)

Habitat

High altitude shrublands and moist montanes. Xeriphytic scrub, observed at heights around 2,030 m

Behaviour

Diet

Their main diet consists almost entirely of insects.
