Middle East: Israel, Arabian Peninsula, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, Iraq, Iran
Asia: Afghanistan, Pakistan, Western Himalayas
Taxonomy
Subspecies
Pterocles coronatus has five subspecies:[1]
- P. c. coronatus
- Central Sahara to Mediterranean and Morocco and east to Red Sea
- P. c. vastitas
- P. c. atratus
- Southern Arabia, Iraq and southern Iran to western Pakistan and Afghanistan
- P. c. saturatus
- Mountains of Oman interior
- P. c. ladas
- Northern Pakistan and adjacent India
Habitat
Dry and desert areas, often around sewage ponds.
