39 cm

  • Dark grey with iridescent sheen
  • Rufous under tail coverts
  • Yellow iris

Distribution

Endemic to the inland plateau of Christmas Island (eastern Indian Ocean).

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Rainforests, open wooded areas.

Behaviour

They often flock together in trees.

Diet

The diet includes fruit, buds and leaves.

Breeding

Its nest is a platform made from sticks high in a tree.
