Chestnut-backed Scimitar Babbler is split into two species:

• Javan Scimitar Babbler
• Sunda Scimitar Babbler

In the map below, the two subspecies in Java belongs in the first of these, and the remaining two subspecies in the second of these species

	Found in extreme S Thailand, the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, Java, Bali and Borneo.
