Genus: Geranoaetus

Description

The adult birds have a very short graduated tail which was one important character for validity of the genus.

Taxonomy

Geranoaetus is a monotypic genus in the family Accipitridae.
Variable Hawk and White-tailed Hawk were formerly included in the genus Buteo.
