Genus: Avocettula

Description

Fiery-tailed Awlbill is the only member of this genus. The argument for keeping this species in its own genus is mainly the special shape of the bill, and the lack of convincing data going the opposite way.

Taxonomy

Some authorities place this species in genus Anthracothorax. Avocettula is a genus in the Family Trochilidae.
