Genus: Atticora
Description
The three species expected to occur in this genus in the future are not obviously similar in external morphology, but DNA studies show that they are each others closest relatives.
Taxonomy
Atticora is a genus in the family Hirundinidae.
White-thighed Swallow and Black-capped Swallow are now also placed in this genus.
SACC has passed a proposal to rearrange the taxonomy of South American Swallows; according to this, the genus Atticora now includes White-banded Swallow, White-thighed Swallow, and Black-capped Swallow, while Black-collared Swallow is moved to genus Pygochelidon.
