Distribution

Asia: found in Russia, Siberia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Mongolia, China, Tibet, Inner Mongolia, Nepal, India, Eastern and Western Himalayas.

Taxonomy

There are 6 subspecies:

  • P. f. fulvescens:
  • P. f. dahurica:
  • P. f. dresseri:
  • Mountains of western China (south-western Xinjiang to western Gansu and northern Tibet)
  • P. f. nanschanica:
  • Montane forests of western China on Qinghai/Gansu border
  • P. f. khamensis:
  • Mountains of western China (Xinjiang to southern Qinghai, Gansu and north-eastern Tibet)
  • P. f. sushkini:
  • Treeline mountain slopes of southern Tibet

Shrubland.
