Identification
Length 15 cm.
Adult male: Similar to Lesser Masked-Weaver, but is larger, with an orange-chestnut crown and black nape. The eyes are pale.
Adult female: Similar to the male, but with a black crown.
Distribution
Highlands of Malawi, northern Mozambique, Tanzania, and eastern Zambia.
Taxonomy
Monotypic[1].
Habitat
Edge of montane forest, and adjacent scrub.
Behaviour
Diet
Forages in lower- and mid-strautum. The diet includes seeds.
Breeding
The nest is woven from grass and plant materials.
