Overview
Uckermark is located 60 km north of Berlin in the direction of Stralsund. Towns include Prenzlau (on lake Unterer Uckersee), Templin, Schwedt and Angermuende. Uckermark covers an area of 3058 square kilometres (larger than the federal state of Saarland) and has only 145,000 inhabitants thus making it extremely sparsely populated. The region has different lakes with interesting bird life.
Examples of interesting lakes are:
- Unteruckersee
- Oberuckersee
- Felchowsee
- Angermuender Teiche (lots of small lakes) - area is called Blumberger Muehle
- Grosser Ploetzsee (4 km to the north the Angermuender Teiche lakes) near railway line

- Eurasian Coot, Barn Swallow, Northern House Martin, Greylag Goose, White Wagtail
- Common Crane, Reed Bunting, European Herring Gull, Black Headed Gull, Mute Swan
- Great Crested Grebe, Common Pheasant 7 x, Eurasian Hobby 1 x, Common Pochard lots, Whinchat 2 x
