Overview
Uckermark is located 60 km north of Berlin in the direction of Stralsund. Towns include Prenzlau (on lake Unterer Uckersee), Templin, Schwedt and Angermuende. Uckermark covers an area of 3058 square kilometres (larger than the federal state of Saarland) and has only 145,000 inhabitants thus making it extremely sparsely populated. The region has different lakes with interesting bird life.
Examples of interesting lakes are:

- Felchowsee
- Angermuender Teiche (lots of small lakes) - area is called Blumberger Muehle
- Grosser Ploetzsee (4 km to the north the Angermuender Teiche lakes) near railway line

Blumberger Teiche Angermuende You can park in the information centre NABU-Naturerlebniszentrum Blumberger Mühle and get information and walk into the area from there.There are also many species of birds to see on the grounds of the information centre. Penduline Tits have been breeding on the site for several years and are easy to observe in spring.There is also a restaurant there. Guided tours of the grounds are also offered there. Then you can also explore the non-public paths.
