Bearded Manakin is a name that is not currently in use, because it covered a species which was split into several species. The current names of the component species are:
- White-collared Manakin which range from Mexico to western Panama
- Orange-collared Manakin which range from Costa Rica to western Panama
- Golden-collared Manakin which range from Panama to Colombia
- White-bearded Manakin which range from Colombia, Venezuela and Trinidad south to Bolivia and northern Argentina
The scientific name for Bearded Manakin used to be the designation now used for White-bearded Manakin.
