Takahe
At Tiritiri Matangi I, North I, New Zealand
November 2001
My wife and I went to Tiritiri during a holiday to New Zealand in January. The Island reserve acts as a predator-free reservoir for a number of threatened species. There are currently 20 takahe on Tiritiri, out of a total population of around 230, so the place is very important, and well worth a visit for anyone in the Auckland area.
