I have not been able to spend much time at home recently but I have been chalking up additions as I go. Jersey Tiger was the latest addition - Harlow Town centre, Essex from Monday. A ghost town of a place compared to my childhood with one of the few shops open on the market square a firearms dealer! Ho hum. One of many things that has been food for thought.

I hope to get updated over the next week at some point after some cricketing R&R. I fear our side no longer know the meaning of that phrase! Numbers will follow. I like numbers. 😀

I did manage a night in the field last week but not updated the yearlist unfortunately as a result of other pressing commitments. Last addition was Garden Tiger from the garden I think. Efforts will be made after a month away to bring things up to date....

I have packed the trap away as I am off tomorrow on an extended trip if all goes smoothly. Personal circumstances meant that the moth yearlist never actually kept being updated after mid-July although I continued recording. Next year Bubo listing should allow me to keep the moth list there so maybe I will get my recording sorted in 2024.

A few final bits from 2023 though....

First & second Bristol Region records of Triaxomasia caprimulgella - two of this tineid to the Lunar Hornet lure confirmed recently by dissection (5th July 2023, Watercress Farm, Nailsea, North Somerset)

First Bristol Region record of Spoladea recurvalis (9th October 2023, Clevedon, North Somerset)

First & second Bristol Region records of Spiny Hook-tip Watsonalla uncinula (18th October 2023, Clevedon, North Somerset) - these were confirmed by dissection and only the 4th and 5th confirmed British records but it appears to have become a resident in our area in the last two years!

Second Bristol Region record of Golden Twin-spot Chrysodeixis chalcites (10th October 2023, Clevedon, North Somerset)

Third Bristol Region record of Cosmopolitan Leucania loreyi (19th September 2023, Clevedon, North Somerset)

Back in 2024 - unless there is a trapping opportunity in the final week of the year when I am back - or my plans go astray.
