Flicker Box (1 Viewer)

Our neighbor had nesting flickers in their aspen tree for years. Last year they cut the tree down, so I decided to buy a flicker box. I have seen a squirrel poking his head out of the box:mad: but the past few days, two flickers have been around it. One is going inside and pecking and making a racket! I first thought it was a neighbor working on their house, it was that loud! I added some pine shavings to help her out and maybe stop her from pecking so much. Questions - Anything I can do to keep the squirrels away? Will they eat eggs if the flickers lay them? Should I buy more pine shavings and fill the entire box? The 2 little bags I put in there only go up about 3 inches. Thanks!
