Cost of transport (1 Viewer)

Hi, I am joining a group tour to Ecuador this August and would like to privately add on three nts at Wild Sumaco Lodge after that. Could anybody tell me what costs I should reasonably expect for getting there and back from/to Quito? My operator gave me a quote which I found far too high - about UDS 1.800,-- for vehicle/driver for three days. Would I need a car at Wild Sumaco at all?

Thanks in advance,

Michael

Quote is far too high.
Wild Sumaco Lodge offered us a transfer when we made the booking. Transfer to quito would be "WWS to or from Quito, $225" on their standard rates. If you can go from quito eastwards by public transport down the slope, rates will lower quite significantly

You could also rent a car for far less that $450 for 3-4 days and the drive to wild sumaco from the airport is straightforward. I should think buses would be easy enough as well though perhaps not as convenient, particularly the last bit from the highway up to the lodge.

One other thought is if you have a car you can stop for a few hours at Papallacta which are some of the better hot springs anywhere. Makes for a lovely stop.
