Just an update on the road in to Calakmul aa an earier thread says the road is now closed to private vehicles. I have just got back from a trip there and am pleased to report that the second section of the road was NOT closed to cars so we were able to drive right along it to the ruins and stop whenever we wanted. Great birding all the way. Perhaps the closure only occurs during busy periods (hardly anyone there when we were).
