    Since moving to the Southwest of the UK I've been to slimbridge a couple of times. There's some great work being/been done there, that much is clear, and the conservation potential of the site is clearly a great thing for the severn Estuary.     Whooper Swan that stayed and stayed. Quite amenable really too. Was at Gwent Levels (Uskmouth) reserve in May 2003. Much more pretty than an ugly duckling.

    Taken on a freezing cold morning as the water meadow was frozen with a thin layer of ice. The light streak down the middle of the frame is the sunlight from the rising sun reflecting off the ice.

    It was actually a feeding frenzy - a woman (out of shot) was leaving a trail of bread in her wake. The birds were obviously hungry (or greedy!)
