Not on Bird track Dave. That is a fault of the system if no accountability of the records submitted cannot be traced to source.

Can only reiterate your comments about Pete Carless & wish him good health & a speedy recovery. Top bloke. Hughie.

No sign of them on either Forge Mill or Swan Pool after Simon. Thanks to PH got there just in time. Didn't see them depart though. Unfortunately TH & KD missed them by minutes. Hughie.

Along with a few hardcore regulars, think more occasional visits are being made by local birders. Problem is most visit the hide area when there are much wider areas to explore away from the RSPB site. Know PH does Hill Top regularly. Hughie.

Don't give him any ideas Phil! Put me off my breakfast now.

You've been watching reruns of Treasure Hunt Phil! Could catch on though, Twitch Hunt. Put news of a rare bird out but only give cryptic clues to its whereabouts. Although, given dodgy directions to some twitches by RBA & Birdnet they've already cottoned on to the idea! Hughie.

Yam Yam has already credited the finder of the Gt Snipe to be Pete Hackett. The same PH that found the Dusky Warbler nearby. Told you Craig that he has found & released news of some top birds in the valley over the years but circumstances governed the whereabouts of the DW. Water under the...

Believe that info should only be revealed by the finder. If he chooses not to say that is entirely up to him. The only person who really needs to know is KC the W Mids County Recorder. Most local birders now know who found the bird & his reasons for not revealing its whereabouts, of which I...

Another one to go with Nightingale & Gt w Egret in the Phantom Birder of the Valley file! About time all Bird Information Services asked for names to reference these elusive birds for official recording purposes. Hughie.

Hi Yam Yam. Thanks for the reply. Agree with most of what you said, except for "birds that are not submitted that's up to the individual" Why. if any birder finds a rare or scarce bird put information on local media, pagers or bird information sites then not inform his/her County recorder or...

Hi Yam Yam. . Thanks for publishing your Valley list & for your input in to the Valley Life List thread. How would you explain a long time birder from the Valley " Mr Valley " life list of 244 which includes Monty's, Nightjar & Collared Pratincole amongst others. Do we dismiss these?. What is...

Hi Steve. Looks like there may have been two Med Gulls at Forge Mill today. At approx 1. 45 I picked up an Adult winter on the water in the middle of the lake. It stayed for 5 mins before circling round and disappearing. This looked like the one I saw last weekend. A white winger with no black...

Yes, Black billed Magpie is just a Magpie. I can confirm that all your list has been included in the excellent Birds of the Sandwell Valley by Pete Forbes, Pete Hackett & Tim Hextell. Although it stretches the imagination to include Razorbill & Corncrake but the authors were meticulous in their...
