Fascinating Interview with Meopta Product Manager

Thank you Martin for posting this sad news. Now we must wait to see what the future holds for the Meopta companies and especially Meopta-Optika. Lee

Fascinating Interview with Meopta Product Manager

The E39 Touring was always my favourite! And for sure after seeing nothing but porro prism binos for years the Trinovids and Dialyts looked like binos from outer space in the same racy and streamlined way that Fender's Stratocaster looked like it was from a different world compared with Gibson's...

Fascinating Interview with Meopta Product Manager

I just checked B1 8x32 and 7x42 and although there are no engravings indicating the available dioptres the wheel turns a very long distance indeed. Lee

Fascinating Interview with Meopta Product Manager

H Meopta commented that the B1 family was introduced as long ago as 2005 and that a wider adjustment range is being considered for possible future models. Lee

Fascinating Interview with Meopta Product Manager

You mean the TS82 spotter? The eyepieces have the same magnification range as the S2 and it looks similar. In other industries I have experienced, if a company licensed the use of one of its own designs by another company it was usually a 3-4-5 year old version of it with reduced performance...

Fascinating Interview with Meopta Product Manager

Good question Herman, and perhaps the answer is that the range provided is adequate for most people. But I will try to get an answer. Lee

Fascinating Interview with Meopta Product Manager

Hi Seb I don't need thumb indents either. But the MeoStar's are so comfortable for me and instead of grumbling about the indents getting in the way of my grip (eg Swarovski EL) I hardly notice they are there or just smile at how nice they feel. I had several Dialyts and a Leica Trinovid in the...

Fascinating Interview with Meopta Product Manager

Yes this is possible. I remember having a Volvo V40 estate car that was based on a Mitsubishi platform, with an engine based on one from Renault and this 'Swedish' car was made in the Netherlands! So I understand what you mean and perhaps some members might be able to cast some light on this. Lee

Fascinating Interview with Meopta Product Manager

I don't know and it is normal for customers using contract manufacturers to insist on confidentiality. The Leica and Zeiss scopes are known about because they are old models and this information 'leaked' in various ways over the years. Lee

Jerry I usually hate thumb indents because in the past they have never fitted my thumbs. The indents on the back of the MeoStar B1s are an exception and feel super-comfortable. Lee

Fascinating Interview with Meopta Product Manager

I have some sympathy with your comments Sebzwo but I can also understand the bino manufacturers' desire for their binos to at least look a little different from everyone elses. Certainly I agree with your comments about cars and prefer the functional looks of our Skoda Fabia Kombi to many other...

Fascinating Interview with Meopta Product Manager

You could be right Bob. When I first saw photos of the B1s I was put off by the 'green pox' but then I saw the binos in real life and liked the compact shape so much that the spots faded into insignificance. Lee

Sebzwo Thank you for your kind words, I am glad you enjoyed the interview. I am not sure what you mean by 'cucumber-style'. Maybe if you can name a bino that does not have this style your meaning would become clear. Lee

Great news. When you have had time to use them why not open up a new thread and tell us about them? You have lots of wonderful places near Durham (where my uncle lives). Weardale - Alston area is beautiful (always a chance of interesting birds on Derwent Reservoir) and the coasts of Yorkshire...

Fascinating Interview with Meopta Product Manager

Thanks Peatmoss and Thanks Jerry. Oddly enough when I first saw pictures of the Meopta MeoStar I was put off by the swirl of rubber 'dots' near the eyepieces and didn't like their appearance at all. In real life it was totally different. They are such a handy size and shape (maybe a bit like...

Hi Adhoc and thank you for your kind words. Yes, that source of info has been mentioned on the forum. Fascinating Interview with Meopta Product Manager

Canip, thank you and I totally agree. Chuck, you could be right (you usually are) but the MeoStar 8x32 is so good I do wonder whether HD glass (as Meopta calls it) would be worth the cost. I am hopeful of reviewing a MeoStar 8x42 soon so I will get the chance to see how it performs. I tested...

Fascinating Interview with Meopta Product Manager

Thanks PHA and John Your kind words are much appreciated. John the rubber armour contributes to the weight and I have wondered if an inner layer of rubber foam ie rubber with cavities. with a tough outer layer might be a possible weight saver and shock absorber. Lee
