    Problem with green coating of EL SV 8x32

    I’ve had issues with the armour becoming detached with Zeiss, Nikon and Swarovski binoculars, none of them were mistreated, it just appears that the glue doesn’t like the heat and humidity of the tropics.

    Yeah i find it pretty quick to set up. I bought the gitzo legs only and used to use a sirui ballhead.

    Thinking of buying a new OM-1 mk2

    Buying secondhand from places like LCE and MPB all come with a guarantee. I’ve noticed quite a lot of OM1s MK1 coming up secondhand. I buy 90% of camera gear secondhand and never had a problem.

    25th January - A return trip to the Yorkshire Wildlfe Trusts North Cave reserve today failed to produce the Black-throated Diver reported yesterday. Still lots of wildfowl on the pits, a singing Cetti’s Warbler and still good numbers of Brambling about. 93. Western Marsh Harrier

    It takes quite a long time to drive to the north (speed limits are low) so probably not worth it for a long weekend. Husavik in the north is a good place for whale watching tours

    Costa Rica, Feb 2023

    I think it might be White-tipped Dove, looks relatively pale on the front, but the rufous crown is quite prominent in one of the pics, which would be more of a Grey-chested feature according to the quick look at the references. Sorry, not much help.

    Looking for lodges/cafes with bird feeders in Costa Rica - please help

    Yeah, lots of the lodges have feeder set ups (cerro lodge, rancho naturalista, arenal obs) were a few that I was at last month. Cafe-wise; Miriam’s quetzals, casa tangara dowii (very good for breakfast or lunch) and Galería de colibríes y Soda Cinchona. Mark

    Unbirded localities of the world

    I think for a lot of people the lack of time, not necessarily money (after all, there are plenty of people paying £££s for tours) leads to this scenario. There must be university age people spending months touring?
