    Question regarding enclosed bino harness.

Yeah, I had the Kuiu for a bit, yet I experienced my EL's rattling around inside, as well the focuser getting snagged on the upper rim of the pack when removing. Maybe I didn't adjust it enough? Either way, something to think about. I'm not too concerned about the compass/GPS interference as I...

    Question regarding enclosed bino harness.

Thank you for your input, guys! That's pretty much what I was thinking, as I can be pretty paranoid about my gear and would rather not damage my optics. Again, I appreciate the help! - Keegan

    Question regarding enclosed bino harness.

Many of you are incredibly knowledgeable about optics, and I was hoping for some expert opinions. I've been looking at a bino harness to protect my Swaro's and Leica's when off-trail hiking in the mountains, and the particular harness of interest to me is made by the brand Marsupial. This...

Problem with green coating of EL SV 8x32

I have a first gen EL 10x42 I purchased back in 2006, as well as an SLC HD I acquired in 2012, and their armour is still in beautiful condition. They're both exposed to frequent sunlight, although i dont use DEET, and I rinse the sunblock from my palms after applying. The only thing preventing...

Obituary for my Ultravid 8x20 BR, 2006-2022

Really enjoyed this, Joe. Sounds like you truly got your money's worth out of that tiny little Leica. I last poked around the Sportsman's Warehouse in Anchorage in 2016, and the pickings for binos were quite slim. Sadly, it's the same here in Calgary now that the best shops have closed their...

Service of out-of-warranty Leica Trinovid 10x42 BA (1009xxx)

About 10 years ago I noticed what appeared to be dust on internal lenses and leaking grease in the barrels. At this point I had already owned mine for 7 years and had not registered them. After emailing Leica's North America customer service about my options, they said that I'd have to cough up...

Service of out-of-warranty Leica Trinovid 10x42 BA (1009xxx)

The trinovid BA/BN's are truly special instruments, and were IMO ahead of their time. Though I have more up-to-date options, I find myself using my 8x42 BN most often because of its unique and rugged qualities. I often think about replacing it with a noctivid, yet I'm just not ready to let it...

Which Binoculars would you like from Santa?

Replied above as I'm new to posting and learning this format.

Which Binoculars would you like from Santa?

Apologies. I was referring to the body's armor. I've been reading about some recent issues with their rubber prematurely degrading due to the biodegradable material they're using as of late. Of course, this could be more of a rarity than I'm lead to believe.

Which Binoculars would you like from Santa?

Noctivid 8x42, and if Swarovski improves their current rubber recipe, perhaps an NL 8/10×42.

    Merry Christmas from Alberta, Canada!

Thank you! Birdforum has been a guilty pleasure of mine since '06. I'm mostly a hiker & mountaineer, but I also find just as much joy glassing the local wildlife on my more relaxed outings. I appreciate the warn welcome.

    Merry Christmas from Alberta, Canada!

I've been a long time reader of birdforum, however, I haven't posted anything until now. My foray into premium optics began in my late teens (20 years ago) when I saved for nearly a year to buy my Swaro 10x42 EL, and soon after, an 8x42 Trinovid BN. They have provided many years of joy while I...
