    Travel scopes

Thanks for all your advice guys. Took the plunge and bought an MM3 60 with the SDL V2 eyepiece. Very happy with the purchase. Seems like a big step up from the MM2 in terms of both image quality and build.

First Scope Advice. Nikon ED50 vs. Vortex Razor

Just bought an MM3 60 with SDLv2 zoom on Saturday, upgrading from an MM2 52 ED. The image quality is excellent, even at the top end of the magnification. I've always used a Velabon monopod with the MM2 to keep the weight down, but I suspect I'll be getting a new tripod to use with the MM3 so I...

    Travel scopes

Hi Frank Thanks for your thoughts. So in summary...you think I'd be better of considering a GS 52 than an MM3? Its the MM3 60 Im considering by the way, which I presume will give me at least some improvements over the GS 52?

    Travel scopes

Thanks for these links Mono, but I cant find anyone on these threads who has upgraded from an MM2 to MM3. That's who I'm really looking for. No doubt the MM3 is a good scope, but would I be paying £700 for a slight or a significant improvement on the MM2 I already own?

    Birding in Brecon

Hi Rich & Delia Thanks for the advice. It's very much appreciated. The Brecknock Birds website has more or less given me everything I need. Birding in new locations would be made so much easier if there was always a map of the local area like this one.

    Birding in Brecon

I'm off to Brecon, Llanhamlach to be precise, for a few days next week. Any advice regarding birding in the local area? I know there's a section on Brecon in the Local Patch forum but no one's posted in there for about 5 years. Any advice much appreciated.
