    Looking for good photography spot

Hay Hampshire I'm based in Bognor Regis and this weekend is the first weekend I've had free for months. I'm looking for a spot where you can get eye-level with birds and have them in range of a 600mm. Any locations like this in Hampshire?

    D3S or D700

I use a D700 and a D3s, I used the D700 for a year its a great camera. I've used the D3s for 2 months and its an amazing camera. Its faster, better ISO performance and feels a lot better in your hands than the D700 and MB-D10 If you've got the money get the D3s, if you want some more info...

    Marlose

Any Deer in Deer Park? Thanks for the info, you've filled me full of hope of stuff to photograph if I can't get to the island. Currently thinking Tuesday, Wednesday Skomer and then Thursday, Martins Haven and Wooltack Point. Going to look for some surfers on Friday on the way back home. Cheers

    Marlose

Just wondering if anyone is based in Marlose. I'll be at Skomer next week for a few days, but I'll based in Marlose. Anyone got any advice on beach spots for Seals and Waders on the main-land in case the boat cannot go or is full. Also up for a drink in the evening if anyone is about.

600mm f/4 VR with 2x TC III Nikon

The larger the number the larger smaller the aperture so the plane of focus is larger so the less depth of field there is. If you don't believe me look at a dof table like - http://www.dofmaster.com/doftable.html Onto the matter of sharpness there are several articles about it I did a quick...

600mm f/4 VR with 2x TC III Nikon

Yep that is what I'm saying. Lenses are sharpest at middle apertures. When I use my 14-24 f/2.8, for landscapes I shoot at f8 not only to reduce depth of field but also to increase the sharpness.

600mm f/4 VR with 2x TC III Nikon

Thats so so wrong. Lenses are sharpest at middle aperture, so if your lens goes all the way upto f64 then its sharpest at f32. So my 70-200 vr 2 f/2.8 is sharpest at f8.

600mm f/4 VR with 2x TC III Nikon

Since there is great interest in long lenses in this particular section, I thought I would post the review I wrote on the 600mm. Problem with the bird forum is I can't link directly to pictures, and I'm not reloading them up to the forum as attachments as its just more bandwidth, you can click...

    Starting simple - 600mm f4

My issue is, I'm unable to link photos from flickr in the use format of most forums, I'm there forced to upload them as attachments, which I'm unwilling to do. Thank you for the kind comment,

    Starting simple - 600mm f4

First trip out with the 600mm f4, with a D700 gripped went well, had one scary moment where the lens was unbalanced and so dropped dramatically when I let go of it. Heart was thumping after that! 600mm f4 VR, D700 1. Starlings This picture is currently featured on the BBC website, which is...

Might want to check the Af as far as I know the AF module is identical to the D90.
