    I did think that? But there were no Reeds, which is why I thought it wasn't. Fields, with a small river though. I just read, they are found in Fields, so I think if it is, a good Bird to see.

    Thanks all!!! I'm going with the possibility of a Nightjar then. The guide, who was bird crazy said it was a bird, and only seeing one eye pretty much rules out an owl. Being on the ground I'd say rules out a Potoo. It was blinking slowly, don't know if Nightjars do that. I'll do more...

    Bird of Prey Uk

    Buzzard. I saw 2 yesterday, got a few pictures, one was diving and wings in the same formation as yours. Both were completely different sizes, and the diving one in my photo about 20% smaller than the other Buzzard, so can be confusing. Probably depends on M or F and age.
