Scytalopus fuscus

Identification

Distribution

South America: occurs only in the Andes of central Chile (Atacama to B¡o-B¡o).

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Dusky Tapaculo has recently been split from Magellanic Tapaculo.

Habitat

Temperate forests.

Behaviour

Like other Scytalopus, this is a shy, skulking species. However, besides the Chusquea thickets that it favors, it can also be found in more open matorral habitats, where it can be reasonably easy to see.
