Identification

Distribution

Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda.

Taxonomy

This is a polytypic species[1] consisting of 3 subspecies.

Subspecies

  • M. h.kidepoensis - Southeastern South Sudan and northeastern Uganda
  • M,h. kathangorensis - Southeastern South Sudan and southwestern Ethiopia
  • M. h.hypermetra - Somalia to Kenya and northern Tanzania

Habitat

Lowland grassland.
