Identification

A female photographed at La Guajira, Colombia.

Males mostly green with forked tail and white thighs. Shape of tail varies quite strongly geographically.

Distribution

Colombia and Venezuela.

Taxonomy

Sometimes treated as subspecies of Blue-tailed Emerald.

Habitat

Subtropical or tropical dry shrubland, subtropical or tropical dry forests and heavily degraded former forest.
