Distribution

Breeds Paracas Peninsula (Peru); ranges to southern Mexico and Chile

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Open seas

Behaviour

Breeding seems to take place mostly under salpetre crust in the very dry Atacama desert at elevations of 400-900 m asl.
