Junco insularis

Identification

  • Greyish head
  • Brown upperparts
  • Blackish wings and tail
  • White tail sides
  • White underparts

Distribution

Endemic to Guadalupe Island (off western Baja California; Mexico)

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species.
Formerly included in Dark-eyed Junco.

Habitat

Oak-pine forests.

Behaviour

Breeding

They lay their 3-4 eggs during February to June. There may be a second clutch in good years.
