Identification
16.5–17 cm
- Brown back, wings and top of head
- Cinnamon underparts, tail, rump and throat
- Cinnamon stripe over eye
- Long down-curved bill
- Long tail
Sexes similar
Distribution
South America: found from south-eastern Colombia to southern Venezuela, the Guianas, Ecuador, Peru, northern Bolivia and eastern Amazonian Brazil.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Swamps and lowland moist forests to 700m.
Behaviour
Diet
The diet includes invertebrates and insects.
Breeding
The nest is built in a tree cavity or a burrow in an earth bank. Both sexes incubate the eggs and rear the young.
