Identification
Male has a chestnut cap.
Distribution
Africa
Western Africa: south-eastern Nigeria, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, DRC, northern Angola
Eastern Africa: South Sudan, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, western Tanzania
African Islands: Gulf of Guinea Islands, Bioko (Fernando Po)
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Subspecies unicus is generally considered invalid[2].
Habitat
Highland forest from 1200-3000m.
Behaviour
This weaver creeps Nuthatch-like along the moss-covered boughs of forest trees in search of food.
Diet
The diet includes seeds.
