Identification
Breeding male: Black facial mask extends down into the upper breast and above the eye. The black mask is edged chestnut, merging to yellow on the hindcrown, sides of the neck and underparts.
Distribution
Sudan, western and southwestern Ethiopia, South Sudan, northeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, and western Kenya.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Semi-arid savanna.
Behaviour
It is gregarious, nesting in colonies of up to 100 pairs, at the waters edge and is generally during or close to the rains.
