- Phylloscopus tenellipes
Identification
10-11cm. Medium sized, wing-barred leaf warbler with a shortish stout bill.
Head; crown brown to greyish brown contrasting, with, especially when fresh olive brown upperparts; strong, long creamy supercilium emphasised by equally long dark eyestripe; ear coverts mottled greyish-brown; median and greater coverts tipped pale often appearing as individual tips; underparts white, including throat, with a brownish wash to the flanks.
Bill brownish horn with pale cutting edge to the upper and base of lower mandible; legs, pale pink though can appear pale grey-blue.
Distribution
Breeds river valleys of north-eastern Asia; winters in south-east Asia.
Cambodia, China, India, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Breeds in Temperate forests nesting in wooded river valleys and undergrowth up to 1800m; winters in mangroves and lowland scrub.
Behaviour
