Identification
17–19 cm (6¾-7½ in)
Male Nominate
- Black crown and upperparts
- Grey ear coverts
- Blackish upper wing coverts and remiges
Distribution
Asia: found in China, Tibet, Nepal, India, Eastern and Western Himalayas, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Taiwan, Hong Kong
Southeast Asia: Indochina, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Malay Peninsula, Brunei, Borneo, Indonesia, Greater Sundas, Sumatra

Habitat
Montane and sub-montane evergreen and broad-leaved forests and forest edges.
Behaviour
Breeding
The nest is a small cup formed from twigs, roots and grass stems. It is built by both the adults.
Diet
Their diet consists of small invertebrates.
They forage in the canopy in mixed species flocks.
