Identification
Length 46-53 cm. Belly black; no white in wings. Smaller than Black-bellied Bustard and Hartlaub's Bustard.
Distribution
Southeastern Sudan to southern Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya and northern Tanzania.
Taxonomy
A monotypic species.
Lophotis vs. Eupodotis
The species in genus Lophotis was formerly placed in genus Eupodotis by some authorities, however there now seems to be a consensus for using Lophotis.
Habitat
Dry woodland; seldom in open grassland.
