all the gear and no idea
this resevoir is managed by the BBOWT and presumably the yachting club that is based on the noth bank.
there is one bird hide on it (red pin "A" on map), but plenty of good spots along the edges which are supposed to be for fishermen. according to other regulars this place does seem to have a reputation for having gone a bit quiet in recent years - ive only been visiting a couple of years myslef, so ive only known it in its current state - the hide is south facing, and looking over a reed bed, so the evening views can be spectacular over the water as the sun goes down
the last few years Bittern have wintered here, and a pair showed almost daily before dusk this year, returning to the reeds, before heading back off to europe. water rail, red kite, sparrow hawk, woodpeckers, gold crest, fowl and swans etc. are regulars - but sitting and waiting seems to be important here.
if you park on halton lane (yellow pin A) you are closer to the hide entrance and an exellent peice of woodland, but if you park to the west (yellow pin B) you can still walk around to the hide via the north path around the resevoir. the path around the south of the resevoir is private for fishing/boating members and not accessible
